Senior System engineer required for Large FTSE 100 Company based in West Malling, Kent. ALL CANDIDATES MUST BE ABLE TO OBTAIN SC CLEARANCE. Vacancy Description Working on an IBM / AIX Platform building Servers builds to a secured and documented state as detailed in the agreed technical design documentation, which can be handed over to the relevant support teams for ongoing systems management. and#x2022; Acting as the technical point of contact for projects/transitions assigned to them and resolving queries and issues to the best of their abilities before escalating, such as required build information. and#x2022; Ensuring delivery of consistent, reliable builds and service across all work by following the team procedures documentation throughout the build process and#x2022; Preparing the information required to hand the project over to support, including the required documentation and organising a handover to support meeting as outlined in the Transition to Support team documentation. and#x2022; Checking and validating equipment orders before they are placed with suppliers to make sure that this matches design expectations and technical requirements. and#x2022; Receipt and safe storage of order when delivered, ensuring that received goods match the delivery note and also liaising with the finance team confirming purchase order completion. and#x2022; Arranging any necessary power and communications cables for the new equipment. and#x2022; Power testing and checking equipment received as soon as is practically possible in order to save time to deal with DOAand#x2019;s, incorrect or missing items. and#x2022; Rack positioning of equipment, placing hardware in racks, and fitting of any associated peripherals and internal components, ensuring that all packaging is removed and disposed of in a tidy manner. and#x2022; Communicating if the client needs to raise any change controls for firewall/load balancing rules to be changed and#x2022; Base operating system builds of all servers to a secured and documented state as detailed in the agreed technical design documentation, which can be handed over to the relevant support teams and meet the client requirement. and#x2022; Applying and/or managing the installation of any required systems tools as required by the business standards and/or any additional tools in scope where required. and#x2022; Configuration of any other software or licenses required as agreed within the scope of the work providing detailed requirements have been documented. and#x2022; Enabling hardware and software maintenance as required by requesting this from the finance team. and#x2022; Implementing any additional backup or Disaster Recovery solutions as appropriate and#x2022; Communicating completion, progress and/or issues to the Technical Delivery Manager and/or Projects/Transitions Manager Essential Experience/Skills To be at a recognised certified level of competence for the IBM AIX server operating system (Either holding the appropriate qualification or very close to achieving this). Relevant experience in all of the following areas; * IBM P Series Server Hardware * IBM Network Installation Manager Configuration * IBM Virtual I/O Server Builds * IBM High Availability Cluster Multi-Processing Builds * IBM SAN Storage Connectivity * IBM Tivoli Monitoring Agent Configuration * IBM Tivoli Storage Management Agent Configuration Desired Experience/Skills * Good awareness of existing and emerging technologies in the IT market place including one or more of the following; - Rack/Blade Servers (IBM/SUN) - Enterprise SAN and Backup (IBM/HDS) - Network/Firewall (Architecture) - Virtualisation and Clustering (O/S) Capita Resourcing welcome applications from all suitably qualified people regardless of gender, race, disability, age or sexual orientation.
